Chacahua Lagoons
Located 56 miles (90 kilometers) west of Puerto Escondido by Federal Highway 200, it is ideal for touring on motorboat, among islets covered by mangroves, habitat of countless aquatic birds, turtles, crocodiles, and iguanas. Located over an area of 7,413 acres, this is one of the last bird sanctuaries in Mexico.
Distinct sports in these sites are two exotic beaches where the lagoons meet the sea: Cerro Hermoso and Chacahua. Besides, in a nearby fishermen village, visitors can enjoy a fresh and delightful variety of seafood, and visit the local crocodile farm.
